The Marketing & Design Assistant is a temporary summer opportunity perfect for a creative self-starter looking to build hands-on experience in marketing, design, and nonprofit communications. Working closely with JAM’s Graphic Designer & Engagement Strategist, this role includes designing and updating flyers, digital graphics, and promotional materials using Canva, while maintaining brand consistency. Ideal for someone with a passion for visual storytelling and community impact, the position offers flexibility to take on a variety of creative projects based on your interests and skills - all within a supportive, collaborative environment.
This is a part-time position operating for 8 weeks in the summer (June and July 2025) and will require a commitment of 15 hours each week. The ideal candidate is a creative, detail-oriented individual with a strong eye for design and a passion for visual communication, comfortable working in Canva, enjoys collaborating with a team, and is eager to contribute to a mission-driven organization. Strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, and a willingness to learn are key. Experience with photography, video editing, or the Adobe Suite is a plus, but more importantly, the right candidate is enthusiastic, dependable, and excited to grow their skills in a dynamic, community-focused environment.
$13.50 hourly
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time

- Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
- Ability to bend body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist
- Ability to bend the body downward and forward by bending legs and spine
- Ability to extending the hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions
The employee is regularly required to communicate, both verbally and in writing.
- Design and update flyers, posters, and digital graphics as needed using Canva
- Maintain consistency with JAM’s brand guidelines
- Help organize and maintain a shared library of design templates and files
- Collaborate with team members to design materials for upcoming events, programs, or campaigns
- Assist in preparing visual content for various marketing channels (print, web, social media)
- Perform all other duties assigned
- Must be 18 years of age or older; High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must have access to proper technology (laptop, computer) to complete projects
- Experience and proficiency with graphic design tools and software, especially Canva, preferred
- Experience with photography and videography preferred
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of visual design principles
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Adobe suite experience preferred, but not required
- Design portfolio preferred, but not required
