Under the direct supervision of the Chief Wellness Officer, this position provides fitness instruction, markets and monitors personal and small group training, educates patrons on fitness and safety, and maintains a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for participants.

Incentive Compensation

$20-35 hourly

Responsibilities

- Teach scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time; providing adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching and cool down
- Instruct patrons on effective workout methods, explain proper techniques, proper use of equipment, and demonstrate exercises; identify different muscle groups and teach appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles; make suggestions and adaptations when necessary
- Prepare music, routine, and needed equipment before class time
- Assist participants, answer questions, and maintain a positive experience for all class participants
- Evaluate clients’ needs and goals, design individualized workout programs to meet those needs and goals, and track progress
- Stay current in research of current wellness trends
- Complete all other duties as assigned by the Chief Wellness Officer

Qualifications

- Extraordinary interpersonal communication and the ability to interact well with the public is a must
- Currently certified in CPR/First Aid/AED, be certified within 60 days of hire, or be certified at the next JAM hosted training, as directed/documented by the Chief Wellness Officer
- Certified Instructor documentation is required (ACE, AFFA, NETA, or Specialty Certification).
- Ability to guide and motivate clients
- Ability to self-market and promote training programs; clientele and workload will be determined by self-marketing and relationship building
- Previous experience as a personal trainer or relevant role
- Ability to work flexible hours
